faded and grainy but still smiling

the older i get, the more this is true.

i do have so much to smile about: a good family (both chosen and given), a good job, a good bill of health, a warm place to stay.

sometimes, though, i'm blinded by the light of life, barely able to see the importance of anything. it's tough to filter it out, but i'll keep working at it.

now, back to work.

True. It's funny, on Medium last night, one of the characters said something very interesting... I don't remember it perfectly but the gist was:

When I think of the future, all it is is another "today", less "tomorrows", and more "yesterdays".

While that's kinda a pessimistic way of looking at life, it's oddly appropriate. It's great to be able to appreciate today and whatcha got, but when you think about the future and what's ahead, it can be completely and thoroughly depressing.

Hang in there, big guy... Just be glad you're not as old as me!

This is completely unrelated to the sentiment of your blogpost, but I'm posting it nonetheless. I watched War of the Worlds last night... and before people explode from the electric shock of the tripods, their eyes get completely white like in your picture. I hope you are not being attacked by tripods.
